    1. I have eczema and deal with this all the time. I can never use my thumbs for my fingerprint scanner on my phone, and I was even close to being denied entry going through customs in Japan while there on vacation once because I couldn’t get any of my fingerprints to actually scan

    2. I play the double bass and all of my 10 fingers cannot be scanned. I mean, they can be but with the most human effort for a simple finger print. One time I went for a fingerprint scan and had to return 3 times after 15-20min attempt at each visit.

    3. Lanolin and mink oil, I’ve taken to treating my skin like the unfinished leather I’m forced to carry around and my hands have started to heal.

    4. I wash dishes for a living. First couple of years I did not have fingerprints on my thumbs, they were just smooth. Couldn’t use my thumb when I updated my password, they had to go through my fingers to find one that worked.

    5. Heads up this happened to me when I had a reaction to a particular material on a mouse I was using. I changed the mouse and it went away. Think about the video game controllers you might be using. Try giving them a break for a week or so. Finger eczema is no joke. Needs those heavy steroids. You can also put a latex or nitrile glove on to increase the concentration of the steroid. Good luck.

Forgot one other trick. There are gloves with gel like interior and cloth exterior. I don’t know how to describe them otherwise. They work wonders on dyshidrotic eczema. Wear them at night.

Have you been cutting things by pushing them on the blade with your thumb? Cause i do that somethimes and then my finger looks like that

    7. A couple of questions: do you get outbreaks of this somewhat seasonally? Have you had it since you were a kid? What’s the cream you mention in a different post?

This looks like what I get and I never found anything to help so I just kinda have all my fingers crack and bleed twice a year and it sucks ass.

    8. Fingertip wax for counting money and handling paper will help temporarily. (Learned this while getting my fingerprints for background check) also lanolin helps a lot. I have the same issue, just all year because I work with paper.

I had that happening too. I added fingers to it using the same one in various conditions.

I lost my fingerprints in the late 80’s when I cleaned pools. The chemicals wiped away any trace.
I really should have stolen shit, but I was just too wholesome. Was…

I’ve had this happen while working in restaurants, specifically when I was at a pizza place. One night I accidentally “palmed” the oven & burnt my hand a bit. The reader stopped working almost instantly & I had to end up getting it reprogrammed for my other hand lol

Editing to add: If you have it available, thick, fresh slices of beefsteak tomato is what the owner of the restaurant suggested. I thought he was messing with me when he gave me it, but it takes away the pain & isn’t “too cold” unlike running the burned skin under cold tap water

    12. You can always disable the finger scan on your phone… I have NEVER used the finger scanner. Or face scanner

      I use a 4 digit code lol.

(Not sure what Apple does. I don’t have Apple.)

    13. I have this. Used to work on a building site where we had to scan in and out using fingerprints. It never worked for me and I’d have 10 minutes at the end of the day having to get someone and re scan my fingerprints to make sure I could get paid.

I had a coworker that changed her fingerprint to her middle finger when that happened and got so much entertainment from flipping off the machine at work! I’ve since moved away but they still kept that fingerprint and is still flipping it the bird all these years later. It’s the little things hehe
